Cancer survival in Norway 1965–2021: Extending standard reporting to improve communication of survival statistics

The primary purpose of this post is to provide links to a series of related publications and resources to which I am proud to have contributed and which I hope will be of benefit to the research community, particularly those interested in reporting patient survival using cancer registry data.

  1. Notes and Stata code for producing the special issue

The Cancer Registry of Norway has long produced high-quality annual reports (Cancer in Norway) describing incidence, mortality, prevalence, and survival. In 2023, they published a special issue with extended reporting of patient survival (reference 1 above). The authors also published an article in The British Journal of Cancer (reference 2 above), briefly describing what they had done and commenting on the utility of surch reports. The authors also provided Stata code (reference 3) to assist others interested in performing similar analyses.
